Douglas Matheson

Douglas is the Systems Administrator at Knights, a position he has held since early 2023. Now in the tenth year of what was originally intended to be a three-month holiday from Scotland, Douglas has built a career that bridges his passion for education with his technical expertise. With a professional background in the English Language sector, where he worked as both a teacher and Assistant Director of Studies—combined with formal qualifications in Computer Systems and Web Development, he brings a rare interdisciplinary perspective to his role.

At Knights, Douglas is responsible for the development, maintenance, and optimisation of IT systems that support both staff and students. His focus is on creating reliable, user-friendly digital environments that enhance the student experience from enrolment to graduation. He is particularly committed to integrating technology in ways that improve operational efficiency and ensure seamless communication across departments.

Outside the office, Douglas describes himself as a self-proclaimed noise-maker on the guitar and enjoys making music in his spare time. He can also occasionally be spotted out jogging, finding it a good way to clear his head and recharge
