Breaking the Cycle: Addressing Workplace Burnout and Promoting Sustainable Well-being in Malta
Workplace burnout in Malta has become a significant concern, with 38% of the workforce showing symptoms across all key dimensions - exhaustion, cynicism, and reduced professional efficacy. The highest risk group includes young adults aged 20–29, and burnout rates are slightly higher among women. Notably, high organisational support and employee engagement drastically reduce burnout prevalence. The study emphasises that burnout is largely driven by organisational factors - particularly workload and lack of rewards - rather than individual failings.
