This module introduces learners to the basic principles, fundamentals and departments found within the hospitality industry. This module will lay the pediment for learners to acquire the basic knowledge of hospitality and be able to further understand the specific modules related to the different specialisations.

Food and Beverage Operations
This module allows learners to gain the relevant knowledge and skills required within the food and beverage service industry. This module will help learners understand the importance of personal appearance and first impressions as well as allows them to explore the basic service styles and the use and upkeep of equipment and tools. Learners shall also have the opportunity to practice table set-up and napkin folding techniques.

Finance for Hospitality
Like any other business, hotels and resorts need to manage their finances successfully in order to become a profitable business. Proper financial management allows for this, and this module allows learners to understand the basic principles of financing within the field of hospitality.

Human Resource Management in Hospitality
Upon successful completion of this module, learners shall be able to demonstrate understanding of the role of human resource management within the field of hospitality. Learners will be equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and competence to understand various functions of human resource in hospitality, as well as understand the importance of employee recruitment, selection, motivation, training and retention within hotels.

Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions
This module allows learners to understand the principles, benefits, and challenges of implementing MICE services in a hotel or in the hospitality industry overall. Furthermore, learners will become familiar with the fundamental principles of MICE services and what such services include.

This module allows learners to delve deeper into hotel operations and become familiar with the basic functions of this department. Such department includes front-office, executives, housekeeping, maintenance, finance, marketing & sales, and kitchen staff. By the end of the module, learners will have acquired knowledge on the vast responsibilities and roles of hotel operations.

Applicants should hold the following requirement:

  • An MQF Level 4 (60 ECTS) qualification

Non native speakers must also be in possession of a suitable English qualification such as IELTS 5.5 or CEFR.

MySkills Scheme

The MySkills Scheme aims to promote a culture of lifelong learning by subsidizing the cost of training for individuals who wish to upskill or reskill. Through this initiative, learners who are not in employment may recover 100% of eligible training costs, while those in employment may recover 80% of the training cost. In both cases, individuals must successfully complete the training. All grants will be capped at €5,000 and are subject to meeting all terms and conditions of the Scheme, including the de minimis Regulation (EU 2023/2831) where applicable
