Gain insight into current leadership and management practices and expand your knowledge of how effective managers and great leaders think, work, lead and inspire within organisations with our MQF Level 6 BSc in Business Management. Upon completion of the programme, students will also earn two globally recognised qualifications from Knights College and Coventry University.

The BSc in Business Management has been strategically developed to equip learners with the necessary skills, knowledge and competencies required to successfully lead up, across, down and inward and deliver results in all directions within an organisation. Students will gain a thorough insight into how great leaders manage people, develop strategies, handle risks, take decisions and drive change within organisations.

Learners will also gain interpersonal competencies that will greatly enhance their critical thinking skills, decision-making capabilities and problem-solving abilities. This programme will also delve into the various relevant fields of business, including marketing, finance, human resource management, development and communication. Learns will learn how to:

  • Define and critically discuss the term ‘business’ and the different types of organisations found in the business industry.
  • Understand the effects of the external environment on the overall success of a business.
  • Comply with employment laws and regulations when performing recruitment.
  • Understand the key differences and similarities between management and leadership.
  • Carry out stress management exercises when needed.
  • Provide recommendations on the ways in which marketing can help an organisation reach their goals.
  • Execute an effective communication plan according to the requirements of the organisation.
  • Ensure the use of effective and appropriate communication methods and techniques with all stakeholders.
  • Draw up simple general ledger accounts and simple journal entries.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, clients or any other direct or indirect stakeholder using effective team-working skills.
  • Monitor inventories and stocks of the organisational resources.
  • Carry innovative change management initiatives at the workplace.
  • Manage and motivate employees effectively making use of effective strategic human resource management.
  • Comply with safety and security procedures set out by the organisation when managing information.
  • Carry out tactical and strategic financial management decisions.
  • Comply with regulations related to finance.

Mode of Assessment

This course shall be assessed through the use of an assignment based on the theoretical concepts presented during the lectures and ways of implementing said concepts and theories. These assessments will include group assignments, group presentations, individual assignments and individual presentations.

This module introduces learners to the world of human resource and people management, whereby they will be exposed to the different activities and responsibilities of this department within organisations. This module will therefore look at processes and procedures related to managing people.

This module focuses on the main techniques and tools which a manager might implement in order to recognise, resolve and mitigate conflict at the workplace. Furthermore, it also provides learners with the necessary skills and knowledge to be able to manage stress within an organisation.

This module allows learners to understand the basic principles and concepts of marketing in organisations. It will allow them to gain an insight on the competitive environment, conducting effective analysis of the market, segmenting, targeting and positioning one’s product. Dissertation
This module allows learners to practice the knowledge and theories that they have acquired in the module ‘Research Methods’. Learners are expected to carry out an effective research project, making use of effective critical thinking, time management skills, problem solving and effective decision making together with the appropriate and most relevant research methodologies. This module is the last step towards the learners obtaining their bachelor’s degree in Business and Management.

Entry Requirements

The below are the requested entry requirements

Applicants should:

  • Hold a Diploma in a related field pegged at MQF Level 4 or equivalent OR;
  • Hold a Matriculation certificate with at least 2 A-levels & 3 Intermediate OR;
  • Be a mature student OR;
  • Hold a MATSEC certificate with Grade 5 or better in English, Maltese and Mathematics, and at least five years of experience working in a business setting.
