Award in Market Research and Product Development

Up to €1,155 refunded via the Get Qualified Scheme.
Learners will explore the full product development process, from idea generation and market research to product launch and performance evaluation. The module examines both the tangible and intangible elements of products, helping learners understand how physical goods are often supported by services such as warranties, support, and brand value. Through real-world examples and case studies, learners will gain insight into the complexity and strategic importance of product decisions.
A strong emphasis is placed on market research, enabling learners to identify consumer needs, assess market opportunities, and ensure that products are aligned with customer expectations. The module also introduces effective marketing research methods and tools used to support informed decision-making.
Learners will examine the four key categories of product development: new-to-the-market, new-to-the-company, improvements to existing products, and product extensions. Through practical case studies, learners will compare these approaches, learn how to identify gaps in the market—particularly in volatile environments—and determine the most appropriate product development strategy to pursue.
The module also explores product development strategies in practice, including budget considerations, risk management, and methods for measuring success, equipping learners with the confidence to contribute effectively to product planning and marketing decisions.
This award will be assessed through the use of an assignment or case study.
This course is intended for those who are aged 21+ and is ideal for students, aspiring marketers, and business professionals who want to develop practical skills in product development, market research, and bringing successful products to market.
